For this CD reissue from over a year before the Jazztet were formed, trumpeter Art Farmer teams up with his future co-leader, tenor saxophonist Benny Golson. With a strong rhythm section consisting of pianist Bill Evans, bassist Addison Farmer, and drummer Dave Bailey, Farmer and Golson perform two of their originals and such songs as "Darn That Dream," "Like Someone in Love," and "Cool Breeze." The straight-ahead hard bop music (originally out on United Artists) is as successful as one would expect; Farmer and Golson always brought out the best in each other. Scott Yanow.
