Animal Joy' features an expansive soundscape of otherworldly allure and charm, being refined by the hands of Danny Reisch and Peter Katis - Katis, who has notably lent his studio prowess to releases from INTERPOL, FANFARLO, THE NATIONAL and JONSI. Featuring capacious arrangements and a staggering range of percussive elements from Thor Harris (who has collaborated with Bill Callahan and Devendra Banhart), Animal Joy' is rich, suggestive, and decidedly unpredictable. The band's sound has evolved and taken flight; frontman and former OKKERVIL RIVER guitarist Jonathan Meiburg has a long-standing dalliance with meandering, lusciously crafted recordings, and has blazed through with an album that is pointedly direct, personal and immediate with Animal Joy'.
